Does 40 Hz light therapy work?

Research suggests that exposure to a light flickering at 40 Hz may promote gamma-wave brain activity, which could potentially activate cells in the brain to eliminate beta-amyloid plaques that are common in Alzheimer's disease.

Disability and death due to PD are increasing faster than for any other neurological disorder. Results from a smart watch recording sleep patterns for 1 week with 40Hz. RLT
The following data was captured by a smart watch. It shows a 7-day time-span decay of the beneficial deep sleep created by one 660nm LED via fiber optics embedded in the flexible sleep mask shown in the prototype.

It is interesting to note that the effect takes about 3 days to return to normal ratios. This changing ratio pattern between deep and light sleep was demonstrated by multiple subjects with smart watches wearing the prototypes.
